Bill.
i have a new poll at jwfacts.mobi/pollsarchive/ as i am very interested to see what people have moved on to believe.
as this is considered sensitive by some, you can answer anonymously at the jwfacts.mobi/pollsarchive/, or answer on this thread.
this is what i have created in the list, but feel free to add comments, corrections, or options i have missed.. .

as you all know since i became a 'mentally diseased apostate that the jehu elders should slaughter(tm)' my wife left me and ripped our family apart.. the elders are convinced it's all my fault that the family suffered although i was the one trying to hold it all together.. i just read greybeard's story about his wife leaving.. how many of you have had family break ups as a result of the heartless and selfish wbt$ corporation?.
is this just a recent trend?.
.
From about Day One.
Although - it certainly intensified from late 1981 onward, when the WTS invented the term "Disassociated", and applied to that the same stigma as "Disfellowshipped."
Bill.
so this jw friend that got in touch out of the blue a few months ago after 24 years of shunning us agrees that the borg is not keen on university.
it is so difficult to keep to your principles because of all the immorality there according to her.
yes same old story we have been hearing for years.. if that is the case they should be fine with distance learning.
Many, including myself, have observed that it isn't just on campus that young persons can get themselves into trouble with substance abuse;
- although the WTS makes in sound like it is (Bearing in mind that "substance abuse" can also include the abuse of that carbonated beverage, usually packaged in a brown bottle).
Try the workplace, for one - as I found out as a vulnerable 17 year old! Then after that, I saw it raised to the level of a fine art when I shared a flat with three other young "brothers."

fulltimestudent,
Very interesting - yet no surprise.
As an aside, I was taught to drink by that same elder who persuaded my father not to send me to university. This fellow certainly knew what beer was for, and sad to say, I was an excellent student! Later on he was accepted for Gilead. By the sound of things, he was well qualified.

So, instead, a young person drops out of school and instead, gets a job:
- because sex, drugs and alcohol abuse don't exist in the workplace, do they?
In my time, I was prevented from going to university by an elder that had some sway over my non-JW father. Yet only a few months after that, I quickly discovered that these "university" things existed in great measure in the workplace, as well.
(40 years ago in our part of the world, drugs weren't a big thing - but promiscuity and heavy drinking and certainly were!)
Bill.
some 800 people in sweden and other parts of europe have developed an incurable case of narcolepsy which is being attributed to pandemrix h1n1 made by glaxosmithkline.
30,000,000 have been vaccinated with the flu shot.
europe drug regulators say those under 20 should not take the drug.
For those (like me) who don't always trust Yahoo News, that article was actually printed word for word from Reuters.
You can find exactly the same report on the Reuters website:
- Even I, who is by no means a computer geek, found it easily enough by just Googling "Kate Kelland, Reuters, UK"
While I would put little trust in the popular media (whether in the printed form, or the electronic), Reuters is almost always a reliable news source. (The writer of that article, Kate Kelland, is the Health and Science Correspondent for Reuters).
Bill.
I tried not to (but with varying results!)
While I am all for giving the WTS the proverbial "Two-fingered Salute" (or "The Finger", for those of you in the USA!), I stop short of doing anything that is going to harm my health in that same process.
As far as I am concerned, there is little point in cutting off ones nose just to spite the face!
Bill.
i know ... many mistakes and a nasty leadership ,but did jehovah's witnesses fulfill even partially matthew 24:14 :"the good news will be preached in all the inhabited earth and then the end will come "are we to expect a final or a completely different fulfilment of this verse ?
.
Thank you Cedars! Notice on this map:
- China is not even listed on the WTS's annual report.
- India has a publisher ratio of less than 0.01%
Yet these two countries together represent one third of the world's population.
Furthermore, some of the other countries with weak publisher representation - such as Indonesia - are also quite populous.
When more than one in every three of the world's population has no contact with the JWs, some very clever weasel talk is going to be needed to support the claim that Matt. 24:14 has been fulfilled!
Bill.
i try to keep my hands clean regularly and stay away from areas and people that i know are sick.. i have never gotten a flu shot and i do know that many that do get one, get the flu anyway.. still, the flu is considered very very bad this year..
Mr Arrogance Barrold Bonds,
You have accused many posters here of needing to "take some basic science and biology courses."
Yet evidently, you need to take some basic courses in reading and comprehension. Nobody else reported any difficulty understanding what I meant (thanks Caliber!), and if you were even half as clever as you believe yourself to be, you would not have had any such difficulty, either!
Next time, engage your brain before putting your mouth into gear.
Bill.

Were I given to sarcasm, I would probably begin with something along the lines of "Pardon me, but I thought the whole idea of being vaccinated against influenza was to prevent one from getting the flu?"
However, sarcasm has never been my scene, and I don't intend to begin now!
It does seem, though, that I have to spell it out for some people:
- what I meant was that receiving the flu shots each year during that four year period never prevented me from getting the flu.
Also, I never claimed to having been made sick from one flu shot, so kindly refrain from introducing that staw man into the discussion.
Bill.
